Ben Rowell - Director of Swim and Tennis

Ben assumes the direct managerial role of the swim and tennis programs after four years as our Director of Golf. Ben's is a graduate of University of Maine, Farmington. He has worked on all corners of the Club in his ten years at the Causeway and is looking forward to bringing his signature attention to detail and focus on service to this important arm of our operations. Ben is the coach of the Mount Desert Island tennis team and acts as property manager/caretaker in the off season.  

Milan Fiser - Head Tennis Professional

Milan rejoins us for his third year at the Causeway. After playing competitively in college Milan turned to teaching tennis as his full time profession. Since 2005, Milan has been director of tennis at Lakeside Plantation in North Port, Florida. With 30 years experience in teaching around the country, Milan has conducted specialty doubles clinics in several clubs including Georgian Bay, Canada and The Wauwinet on Nantucket Island. He also worked for the USTA for 2 yrs reconstructing the facility at Sawyer Point, Cincinnati.

Milan has personally coached several hundred juniors that obtained national rankings and became scholarship athletes.  In addition, he has special training for children 10 & under tennis using special balls for specific age groups. Milan and Tammy looks forward to returning to MDI. 

Sam King joins our team this season as our assistant tennis pro this season. Sam is a 2014 graduate of Bowdoin College where he played four years of varsity tennis and became a Division III All-American. Sam has coached and taught tennis for seven summers to all ages and ability levels. He comes to us with the highest recommendations as a passionate teacher and enthusiast for the game. Most recently, Sam spent 14 months in Sri Lanka, first as a Fulbright Scholar teaching English, researching traditional agrarian livelihoods, and working cross-culturally within the Sri Lankan educational system. He will also start teaching Humanities and Social Sciences in the fall at the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, as well as coaching their competitive tennis teams.

 

We had our son’s wedding reception at the Causeway Club​; we felt ​the barn was ​an​ ideal venue​.​ The staff at the Club was very accommodating and worked well with our ​vendors​. I highly recommend it for an informal but truly Maine wedding reception.​
