Ben Rowell- Director of Pool & Tennis

We are excited to have Ben continue for his fifth season running the swim and tennis programs here at the Causeway Club. Ben is a graduate of University of Maine at Farmington. He has worked on all corners of the Club in his fourteen years at the Causeway, and he brings his signature attention to detail and focus on service to this important arm of our operations. Ben is the coach of the Mount Desert Island tennis team and acts as property manager/caretaker in the off season.

Rod Sabag- Tennis Professional

We’re pleased to announce the return of Rod Sabag for the 2018 season. Born and raised in Mexico, Rod has been playing and teaching tennis in a variety of settings around the US (primarily in TX and HI) over the years and has dedicated experience working with clinics and groups of all sizes and all ages. He has spent seven years running private and semi-private adult clinics, and has spent summers running juniors programs with 200+ children; he has a great breadth of experience to put to work on our courts. His winters are currently spent teaching as Head Pro at a resort on Hawaii.

Elvi Shelton- Tennis Professional
New to us this year on the courts will be Elvi Shelton. Elvi has taught on the island for the past three summers, and in Natick, Massachusetts at the Longfellow Tennis Club for the past seven winters. She has many years under her belt of teaching all young and old alike, and will run clinics for all ages as well as offering private and semi-private lessons. Elvi’s husband, originally an MDIIslander, has hooked her on the area, and they’ve recently made a permanent move back to the island. We’re glad to have them back, and glad that she will join us at The Causeway Club.
