Ben Rowell- Director of Pool & Tennis

We are excited to have Ben continue for his fifth season running the swim and tennis programs here at the Causeway Club. Ben is a graduate of University of Maine at Farmington. He has worked on all corners of the Club in his thirteen years at the Causeway, and he brings his signature attention to detail and focus on service to this important arm of our operations. Ben is the coach of the Mount Desert Island tennis team and acts as property manager/caretaker in the off season.


Sam King- Tennis Professional

We are thrilled to have Sam King returning to the Causeway as our returning Tennis Pro this season. Sam is a 2014 graduate of Bowdoin College where he played four years of varsity tennis and became a Division III All-American. Sam has coached and taught tennis for seven summers to all ages and ability levels. He comes to us with the highest recommendations as a passionate teacher and enthusiast for the game. Most recently, Sam spent 14 months in Sri Lanka, first as a Fulbright Scholar teaching English, researching traditional agrarian livelihoods, and working cross-culturally within the Sri Lankan educational system. He teaches Humanities and Social Sciences at the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, while also coaching their competitive tennis teams.


Rod Sabag- Tennis Professional                                                                                      

We’re pleased to announce our newest member of the Causeway team in 2017, Rod Sabag. Born and raised in Mexico, Rod has been playing and teaching tennis in a variety of settings around the US over the years and has dedicated experience working with clinics and groups of all sizes and all ages. He has spent seven years running private and semi-private adult clinics, and has spent summers running juniors programs with 200+ children; he has a great breadth of experience to put to work on our courts. His winters are currently spent teaching as a Head Pro at a resort on Hawaii.
